This usually happens when changes made to tasks in previous work items—like due date updates, task assignments, or deleted tasks—are carried over to future work items. Karbon's repeating work functionality automatically applies these changes to all future work items unless manually adjusted.
Example: Let’s say you have a repeating work item that’s scheduled to start on November 16th. You notice that some tasks are already marked as overdue, even though the work hasn’t started yet. Upon checking, you find that the tasks were originally set to be due 5 days after the work start date. However, during a previous work cycle, someone adjusted the due dates to be earlier, like November 6th. Since those changes weren’t reset, the system carried them over to your current work item, making the tasks appear overdue before the actual start.
How to Fix It:
Reset the work to the template: Before starting a new work item, you can reset it to the template. This ensures the due dates and task details are based on the template and not on changes made in previous work.
Adjust task creation timing: Instead of having tasks created right before the work starts, you can set them to be created at the same time as the work. This way, the tasks are always based on the template and won’t inherit changes from previous work items.
