Prerequisites:

  • Karbon Practice Intelligence Add-on

  • A Business Intelligence (BI) Software (Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.)

Connecting Your BI Tool to KPI:

To connect your BI tool to Karbon Practice Intelligence (KPI), follow these steps:

  1. Connect to a New Data Source: You'll need to connect to a new data source within your BI tool.

  2. Utilize the Built-in Snowflake Connector (if available): If your BI tool has a built-in Snowflake connector, it's recommended to use this to connect to KPI. Gather the following information to establish the connection:

    • Locator: Available from the Intelligence tab of Karbon under "Intelligence Credentials"

    • Region: Available from the Intelligence tab of Karbon under "Intelligence Credentials"

    • Username: Available from the Intelligence tab of Karbon under "Intelligence Credentials"

    • Server: [LOCATOR].[REGION].azure.snowflakecomputing.com

    • Warehouse: read_wh

    • Role: Public

  3. Select Desired Table(s): Once connected, select the desired table(s) needed for your report. For more information on the tables available in KPI, refer to our data dictionary.

Modifying an Existing Dashboard:

To modify an existing dashboard in Karbon Practice Intelligence, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Intelligence Tab: Access the Intelligence tab of Karbon.

  2. Select Dashboard for Modification: Hover over the dashboard you wish to modify and click on the ellipsis (...) to reveal the download option.

  3. Download Power BI Template: Choose the download option to obtain a Power BI Template file.

  4. Open and Setup Power BI Template: Open the downloaded file and complete the setup process as prompted.

  5. Customize Dashboard: Once set up, you can now customize the dashboard based on your specific requirements. Please keep in mind, that these modified dashboards will need to be used through your own Power BI platform. At this time, they cannot be embedded back into Karbon.
