By integrating Ignition with Karbon, you can automatically trigger a work item to be created from your chosen template when a client accepts an Ignition proposal.
This guide will walk you through the steps to connect your Ignition account to Karbon.

Before you get started
Ignition turns your proposal, terms of service and payment collection into a single smart contract. When paired with Karbon, those smart contracts can automatically create work items in Karbon when your client accepts their proposal.
The Karbon and Ignition integration works by:
Services being defined within Ignition
Those services are mapped in Ignition to Karbon templates
The work assignee for all work items created from Ignition is designated within the integration management console within Karbon
When working with a prospect or existing client, you can send out proposals and receive signed contracts via Ignition
Once a client signs a proposal, the integration between Ignition and Karbon will automatically create a work item/s off the templates that were mapped to the services in the proposal you sent that specific client
In Karbon, the work items are auto-created and assigned based on the primary contact specified in the Ignition management console
With this integration, you have a seamless way of transitioning clients from your sales team to your services delivery team.
It's a good idea to make sure you have created Karbon templates for each Ignition service before connecting the two Apps.
To avoid creating duplicate contacts, we also recommend exporting your contacts from Ignition and comparing them with your Karbon contacts. Take the time to ensure your client names in Ignition match your contact names in Karbon.

Connecting your Ignition account with Karbon
After you have made sure that your contacts match a contact in Karbon and that you have created a Karbon template for each service in Ignition, setting up the integration is easily done in these 3 steps:
1. Establish the connection
You can link Ignition and Karbon together using your unique connection token.
Find your connection token in Karbon by going to Settings > Connected apps > Ignition and copy this token to your clipboard.
Within Ignition, navigate to the Apps section. Click on the Karbon app tile (only available on Ignition Professional or Scale plans).
Within the Karbon settings drawer, enter your API key and click "Connect your account".
These steps will establish a connection with Ignition and import your Karbon templates into Ignition. The integration is not enabled until you complete the service mapping steps, which are outlined below.
2. Linking your Ignition services (service mapping)
Linking your Karbon templates to Ignition services will automatically create a work item from the specified template whenever a client accepts the linked proposal.
After establishing the initial connection, click the "Work Templates" card in Ignition to begin linking your services.
Your existing Services are shown on the left, and your imported Karbon work templates are available on the right to choose from within the dropdown menus.
Simply select one or more templates for each corresponding service. You can leave some services with no associated Work Template, but these services will not create a Karbon work item when selected in a proposal. When done, click "Confirm Settings".
3. Enabling Karbon Integration
Once you have connected and linked your services, you are ready to enable the integration. Click on "Enable Karbon" and the integration will be turned on.
From this point forward each time a proposal is accepted, the corresponding work will be created within Karbon.
Using your integration with Ignition
Best Practice Video (4 min)
In the 4 minute video below, learn the best practices on how to set up the integration between Karbon and Ignition. Learn how to do the following:
Add a fake colleague to assign all work from Ignition
Connect Ignition to Karbon using the Karbon API token
Map Karbon work template(s) to Ignition service line items
Assign all new work in Karbon to the new fake colleague
Create a saved view in Karbon to manage all new work from Ignition
Mapping multiple work templates to a single line item
Using the integration with Ignition, you can easily create work using work templates mapped to service line items in Ignition. In addition, you can map multiple work templates on a single line item to support bundled service offerings.
To do the multiple mapping, simply go into Ignition and follow: Apps > Karbon > Work Templates. On a single service line item, add your first work template to the desired service line item. Once done, click back into the service line's drop-down menu and select an additional work template. Add as many as you would like for the given service line item bundle.
Choosing the default assignee for new work
The Karbon and Ignition integration will automatically create work items from your chosen template when a client accepts an Ignition proposal. These new work items will always be assigned to a default assignee.
You can specify this default assignee from the dropdown menu located in Settings > Connected apps > Ignition.
Creating a queue user for new work
A great way to manage new jobs, when you are not yet sure who the best team member is to assign the job to, would be to assign them to a 'Queue' user. This is particularly useful if you have new work items created through your integration with Ignition. You can do this in 4 easy steps:
Create a new colleague called "1 - New Client Queue" or similar
You can use a fake email address for that new colleague
As long as the email invitation is never accepted, the new colleague will not be added to your account's number of users, and you will not be charged
You can still assign any work item to that "1 - New Client Queue" user
Any work items created through Ignition, or any other new work items, can be assigned to your queue until they are ready to be reassigned to another team member.
