Before you start

Accounts can be connected to Exchange email accounts hosted on Microsoft Exchange 2010 or later. Before you can connect your Microsoft Exchange email account, you must have the:

  • Email address matching your account. Not an email alias.

  • Exchange password you use to login to your email account. This is often the password used to login to your computer.

Connecting your account to Exchange

Connecting your account to Exchange is super easy and can be done in 3 simple steps.

  1. Open the welcome email invitation and click the 'Accept' button. You will be navigated to a browser page that asks you how you would like to continue

  2. On the browser page, click the 'Microsoft Exchange' button and you should see the following screen:

3. Enter your Exchange email address and password and click 'Login'. At this point, we are trying to locate your Exchange Email Server to verify your email address and password.

If we can do this, your Exchange email account is connected and you will be logged into your account.

If you are asked to provide your Exchange Details

If are unable to locate your Microsoft Exchange server automatically, you will see the following screen. This will only occur if you're the very first user and only you will be required to provide this information. Once the first user in your organization is successfully logged in, the same server details are used for subsequent users.

If you see this screen, it means we need you to provide some additional details in order to locate your Microsoft Exchange server. To do this, we require the following additional information:

How do I find my Exchange server address?

To help you locate your Microsoft exchange server address, look for the program you currently use to access your email and then follow these steps.

Note: the Exchange server address, also known as 'EWS Server Address', will often begin with https:// and end in /ews/exchange.asmx. It will often look something like this: https://connect.myorganization.com/ews/exchange.asmx. If the server name only uses letters and numbers in the form of an email address, use that text instead of the full https://xxxxxxx/ews/exchange.asmx address. This won't be the url that you use to access your email via webmail.

iPhone App

If you have your work email on your iPhone (not through webmail) you can find your exchange server address in your mail app settings.

1. In 'Settings' select the 'Mail' section
2. Select the account that relates to your work email account
3. In the area labeled 'Exchange', select the account
4. The address recorded in the field labeled Server is the Exchange Server Address you need to provide when logging into Karbon

Outlook on Mac

If you're using Outlook for Mac, you can find your Exchange server address in the following way.

1. In 'Outlook' open 'Preferences'

2. Select 'Accounts'

3. For your work account select 'Advanced' on the bottom right-hand side

4. In the 'Microsoft Exchange' section copy the address in the 'Server' field. This is the server address you need to add when logging into Karbon

Outlook on Windows

If you're using Outlook on Windows you can find your Exchange server address in the following way.

1. In Outlook select 'File'

2. Select 'Account settings'

3. Double click the email account from the list

4. In the field labeled 'Server' copy the address

After entering your Server address, try clicking continue. If that doesn't log you in proceed to enter your Server domain.

Test if you have the correct Exchange server address

To test whether or not you have the correct Exchange server address and accounting information, try the following process:

  1. In a web browser tab, paste the full Exchange server address (this is the EWS server address similar to https://connect.myorganization.com/ews/exchange.asmx and hit enter

  2. If the exchange server address is correct you should be presented with a basic authentication screen asking for your username and password. If you don't see this there will be a problem with the server address you provided. Please check the address and try again. You may need help from your IT technical support if the address seems correct

  3. Once you see the authentication page, enter your username and password. Your username may be your email address or the domain\username you use to log onto your computer. Try both separately if required

  4. If the authentication is successful some code snippets will be displayed in the browser window. Don't be alarmed at this as it simply confirms you were successfully authenticated

How do I find my Server Domain and Username?

The "Domain" property helps identify the computer network hosting your Exchange email account. Depending on your Exchange and network configuration, you may be required to provide the domain so that we can successfully identify which account to connect to and verify that the provided password is correct.

The easiest way to identify your Server Domain and Username is on the lock screen of your computer.

  1. From your computer's Start menu, choose 'Lock'

  2. Your Domain name will be visible, in the form of 'Domain\Username'

If you can't find all the required information, you may require help from your IT support team/supplier.

Once the required information in each of the fields is entered, click continue. After clicking continue, we will use the server address provided to locate your Exchange email account and then verify the username and email address are correct. If correct, you will be logged into your account and your Exchange email account connected.

Note: Once you have entered in these details and we have successfully connected to your Exchange server, your colleagues will only need to provide their username and password to connect their exchange accounts.

When you first log in to your new Karbon account, it can take up to 15 minutes for your emails to appear. After this time, your 20 most recent emails will flow into Triage, and every email received after that.
