Clients sometimes see generic or unclear work item titles like "Unnamed Service" in the Karbon Client Portal. This usually happens when a work item has a work type assigned (e.g., Audit) but is missing a corresponding service type. This guide will walk you through the steps to resolve this, ensuring your clients see clear and professional work item names.
Steps
Step 1: Inspect the Work Item Details
First, let's verify that the work item is missing a service type.
Go to the affected work item in Karbon.
Review the details of the work item. Confirm that the Work type field is set (e.g., "Audit"), but the Service type field is blank.
Step 2: Update Service Type Settings
Next, you need to associate the work type with a service type in your Karbon settings.
Navigate to Settings > Workflow > Service Types.
Under the relevant category (e.g., "Assurance"), select Edit Work Types.
In the "Edit Work Types" window, ensure the specific work type (e.g., "Audit") is checked. This links the work type to the overarching service type category.
Save the changes.
Step 3: Apply the Service Type to the Work Item
Now that the work type is correctly associated with a service type in your settings, you can apply it to the specific work item.
Reopen the work item that was previously showing as "Unnamed Service."
Confirm that the Service type field now appears and is correctly populated (e.g., "Assurance").
Result
After completing these steps and refreshing the Client Portal, the work item will update from "Unnamed Service" to display the proper service type category (e.g., "Assurance").
