This eliminates the need to manually enable Karbon for Clients for each individual client, simplifying your setup process and ensuring all new client requests automatically link to the Karbon for Clients portal.
Activating for All Clients
Firms that created their Karbon accounts prior to the general release of Karbon for Clients (July 21st, 2025) have established ways of interacting with their clients. Previously, activating Karbon for Clients involved two main steps per client: turning on Karbon for Clients and then inviting specific people to access that client in Karbon for Clients. This "Activate for All" feature streamlines that process significantly.
You can activate Karbon for Clients for all your clients from two locations within Karbon:
Contacts → Karbon for Clients
Settings → Karbon for Clients
Once you are on either of these pages, simply click Activate in the banner at the top of the page:
And then select Activate on the subsequent modal:
Note: Activating Karbon for Clients for all clients is a permanent change. It removes the old Client Portal settings from your account to avoid future confusion and ensures all future client requests are routed through Karbon for Clients.
When You Might Not See the "Activate for All" Option
If you do not see the "Activate" banner on the Contacts → Karbon for Clients or Settings → Karbon for Clients pages, it means one of the following:
It's already activated: Karbon for Clients has already been activated for all clients in your firm, either by you or another team member.
Recent account creation: Your Karbon account was created after the general release date of Karbon for Clients (July 21st, 2025). In this case, the "Activate for All" feature is enabled by default for your firm.
Does this automatically invite any contacts?
No, activating Karbon for Clients for all clients does not automatically send out any invitations. You will still need to manually invite the specific contacts you want to have full access to Karbon for Clients.
However, client requests sent to recipients will now automatically link to Karbon for Clients. This means recipients can use these client requests to create a login and access Karbon for Clients when they need to, provided your firm's security settings are configured appropriately. While sending invitations is still useful for onboarding clients to the full portal experience, it is not as critical as it used to be for basic access via client requests.
