There can be a number of reasons why you would want certain emails to skip Triage. In this case, the example used is having emails from your family members skip Triage.

Having certain emails skip Triage, although not recommended, is certainly possible. You can do this by creating a label/folder in your email provider and then setting up a rule for those emails to skip your inbox and go directly to that label or folder.

Set up skipping emails for Gmail

First, create a label for the emails you wish to skip Triage.
To add a label to your Gmail account (for example, "Family"):

  1. Go to Settings > Labels > Create New Label > Type in a name > "Family".

  2. Let us know via Help & Feedback in the main menu of Karbon or by emailing support@karbonhq.com the name of the label you wish to skip. Emails with that label will no longer be pulled into Karbon.

Next, create a rule to mark specific emails with that label:

  1. Go to Settings > Filters & Blocked Addresses > Create a new filter

  2. Add the appropriate filters (in this example, specific email addresses) and then click on "Create filter with this search".

Then tick the box that will make the email skip your inbox and apply the label you just created, in this case 'Family'.

You have now created a rule for these emails to skip your inbox and these emails will no longer be pulled in to Triage.

Set up skipping emails for Office365 or Microsoft Exchange

First, create a new folder. To add a folder to your Outlook (for example, "Family"), right-click the parent folder you want to create the new folder in.

If you want a top-level folder (a folder at the same level as your Inbox), you would use your mailbox as the parent folder (recommended).

Next, create an inbox rule to move any email you don't want to be pulled into Triage.

  1. Choose the app launcher > Mail

  2. Then select Settings > Options > Organize email > Inbox rules

  3. To create a new blank rule using the Inbox rules page, choose New

  4. When the message arrives and: here add the email addresses (or any other criteria) you'd like the emails that will skip Triage to have

  5. Do the following: Use this box to select the action you want taken when a message arrives that meets the criteria you selected. In this case, skip inbox and move email to "Family"

Let us know once the folder and rule have been created, and advise us on the name of the folder the emails are going to. We'll ensure emails in that folder skip Triage.
